Storm and Power Outage Information

Shelters
An overnight shelter has been set up at the Jeter Watson Intermediate School on Potts Creek Road in Covington and the MeadWestvaco Training Center on Riverside Street in Covington.  Overnight shelters have also been set up at the First Assembly of God Church in Clifton Forge on Chestnut Street and Livingstone Ministries Lifehouse on Granville Ave. 

The YMCA in Low Moor is open and allowing the public to take showers.

Food Information
Food is available at the following locations:
Jeter Watson Intermeidate School

MeadWestvaco Training Center

Livingstone Ministries Lifehouse will be serving breakfast from 9am until 11am and supper from 4pm until 6pm beginning June 2.

The Red Cross/Baptist Kitchen will have hot meals available for pickup beginning June 2 at the new Jeter Watson Intermediate/Elementary School.  Lunch will begin at noon and supper will begin at 6pm.

Water and Ice Information
Drinking water and bagged ice are available for pickup at the BACOVA II Building at 1200 Commerce Center Drive in Low Moor from 9am until 5pm.  Also, water can be picked up at any local fire/rescue station.

Power Status
Power is still out throughout much of the County and the City.  It is unknown when power will be fully restored.

Debris/Trash Removal

Brush and tree debris can be taken to the Alleghany Transfer Station or the Covington Landfill.  Regular solid waste trash pick up will occur in both the County and City.  Trash trucks will not take brush or tree debris.

Damage Reports

Citizens can contact the County Administrator's Office at 863-6600 between the hours of 9am and 5pm to report storm damage to their homes or out buildings.
